The importance of having good oral hygiene and clean sparkling teeth cannot be stressed enough nowadays. Apart from the regular importance of having a good and clean set of teeth, it is equally important to have good oral hygiene when you have to go out and meet someone. The importance of good oral hygiene keeps on being advertised to everywhere where the products scream out aloud to us from everywhere – billboards, hoardings, television and the internet. This is very important because the first thing to do when you go and meet someone is to smile. This makes having a clean and good smile necessary and this can be achieved only through a nice set of sparkling teeth.
There are a lot of reasons why our teeth get yellowed or stained through the course of time. A lot of factors ranging from lack of proper care, cigarette smoking, alcohol and coffee are responsible for the same. So it is almost necessary that you go and book an appointment with the dentist to ensure yourself a good smile along with hygiene. But most of the doctors charge a bomb for treating your teeth and good oral hygiene. There are a lot of procedures available but almost all of them are very costly. For instance, if you really need to get yellowed teeth cleaned, then you can get a laser treatment done which will almost empty your balance in the bank. So this is not the ideal way to go about getting your teeth whitened.
So what do you do when you have to get your teeth whitened? There are a lot of home-made recipes which can work as wonderfully as the expensive procedures for a tenth of the cost. One of them is the use of the baking soda recipe. There are a lot of advantages to this procedure apart from the obvious cost difference. The absence of harsh chemicals acting on your teeth is also a good incentive for you to try this process out. Though there is the option of brushing your teeth with baking soda, it is found to be unpleasant by some people. For all those who do find this unpleasant, there is an alternative to it.
Take around 6 tea spoons of the baking soda powder and mix it with around 4 tea spoons of glycerin. To this mixture, add around one third of a tea spoon of table salt. Now add 10 drops of peppermint extract. You can use this to brush your teeth and there will be a marked improvement in the color of the teeth. The mixture needs to be maintained in an airtight container so that the mixture does not get spoiled otherwise. Use this for a week and you will be able to see the change immediately!
